This page has such an unintentional Christmas vibe...let's just lie and say it's Christmas in July...

The quote on this page makes me think of how much of our life is in the way we choose to view it.

There's a quote that says something like 'we can be sad that roses have thorns, or we can be glad that thorn bushes have roses'.

Bad things happen.

Terrible, horrible, heart-shattering things happen.

But even in those moments, there are still things to be happy about.

I think about how much of life I have allowed myself to be melancholy over...

even when nothing was really all that bad...

When I'm in those times of blue funk, it's easy to wallow.

It's easy to say that life did not turn out how I wanted it to and now I'll never be truly happy.

But it's also true that things could be much, much worse.

It's also true that I could not be here to witness any of it, the good or the bad.

And that makes me realize that I'd rather be here.

Because no matter how bad it gets, being here comes with the opportunity for change.

I am trying to change my mindset.

To see thorn bushes having roses and to be glad about it.

I know there are flowers, even in the darkest night and in the coldest winter.

I choose to want to see them...

And there they are.
